Why You Must Stage Your Home Before You Sell It

Not staging a home is not an option in my book. It’s an absolute must.

But what does staging entail exactly? As a seller, what would you have to do?

The purpose of staging is to “set the stage” for the sale, so that buyers are enticed to buy your home. Many people think of staging as putting cool furniture and decor in the house when it’s for sale. That’s only a small part of it, and the part that’s only done after many other crucial things happen, such as:

  • Decluttering
  • Cleaning
  • Fixing
  • Painting
  • Updating

If you do not attend to these details, it will be harder for buyers to want to buy your home. These things become objections. Issues. Reasons to pass. No thank you…moving on.

The way will live in our homes and the way we present them for sale are very different.

With staging, the goal is to get your home in the best shape it can be within the constraints of your time and budget. Because admittedly, those are very real. We can’t do everything. With guidance from a professional on what needs to be done, and a ranking of priorities, you can feel comfortable knowing exactly what you need to do to get your house ready for sale. And by making a diligent effort to showcase it at its best, you can set your house apart as the one the buyers want to buy.
